Work With Us
We're looking for a few good people to join the Outside, Texas team as we head into one of our biggest events of the year — the 2026 State Fair of Texas.
We're currently hiring for two roles:
State Fair Store Manager / Event Lead
Pay: $18–$21/hour
We're looking for someone who can grow into a leadership role with Outside, Texas.
This position will begin part-time in August and September, working alongside our team at weekend events, pop-up stores and Dallas Farmers Market. This gives you time to learn our products, brand, Shopify POS, merchandising, inventory and event operations before stepping into a larger role.
The position then transitions into a full-time seasonal role surrounding the State Fair of Texas, including store buildout, setup, Fair operations and breakdown.
2026 State Fair of Texas:
September 25 – October 18
Fair hours: 10 AM – 9 PM daily
Our Outside, Texas store is located inside an air-conditioned building at the Fair.
The Store Manager will work alongside the owner and our part-time staff to ensure that an experienced lead is always present. You will not be expected to open and close the store every day.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading daily State Fair store operations
- Supervising and working alongside part-time staff
- Customer service and sales
- Shopify POS
- Inventory management and product replenishment
- Merchandising and store presentation
- Opening and closing responsibilities when scheduled
- Daily sales and operational communication
- Troubleshooting issues as they arise
- Helping train State Fair staff
- Store setup before the Fair
- Store breakdown following the Fair
Before the Fair
We want this person involved before September 25.
Training will include hands-on experience at Outside, Texas weekend events and pop-up stores so you're comfortable running an event before taking on the State Fair role.
After the Fair
For the right person, this position can continue as a Part-Time Event Lead / Manager.
Outside of the State Fair, most of our events take place on Saturdays and Sundays and can include:
- Dallas Farmers Market
- Festivals
- Pop-up stores
- Outdoor events
- Retail partner events
- Brand activations
- Special events throughout DFW and Texas
Event Leads may be responsible for preparing inventory, loading, transportation, setup, operating the pop-up store, managing staff, sales, breakdown and returning equipment and merchandise.
You Might Be the Right Fit If...
We're less concerned with an impressive title on your resume and more interested in how you work.
You could be a great fit if you:
- Show up and can be counted on
- Enjoy interacting with people
- Take ownership instead of waiting for instructions
- Can lead a small team without making things complicated
- Are organized and pay attention to details
- Stay calm when things get busy
- Are comfortable learning technology and POS systems
- Can work independently
- Don't mind getting your hands dirty loading, setting up and breaking down events
- Can work weekends
- Have strong availability surrounding the State Fair
- Like what Outside, Texas is about
Retail, hospitality, festival, event or management experience is helpful, but it's not the only thing we're looking for.
